Forging is the process of heating metal, in particular Aluminum, Brass and Copper, to a moldable temperature, and then using precision machined dies, or mechanical presses, to forge parts to a near net shape. The result is a part that is virtually free of imperfections and porosity-free, which is ideal for cosmetic surface requirements. This process, which does not change the grain structure of the metal, is vastly superior to mold casting in that forged products are up to 15% stronger than their molded counterpart.
